Happy Independence Day edition of Popculturology! It feels like it should be a long weekend but someone stuck this Friday in between the holiday and Saturday. (Maybe we should’ve followed the advice of one Twitter user and gotten the entire week off as “a kind of ‘going out of business’ blow-out.”)
The coolest bit of news from the last week is that we might — might — be getting a third Dune movie from Denis Villeneuve much sooner than we expected. But first, let’s talk some Star Wars ...

“Just you and the Force … and what you bring with you”
I love where The Acolyte has gone the past two episodes. After being lukewarm on the show for its early episodes, I’m more than fully on board with this show. I think The Acolyte is on the verge of greatness.
This week’s episode further explored Manny Jacinto’s Qimir/The Stranger. In classic Sith fashion, it’s still hard to tell if what he’s telling Osha is the truth, a lie ... or something in between. The Stranger hints to Osha that he is much older than he appears, telling her that he was a Jedi “a long time ago ... it was a really long time ago.”
