‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ gets clowned by ‘Terrifier 3’
The ‘Joker’ sequel took a historic second-weekend fall, allowing the slasher film to take the No. 1 spot while ‘The Wild Robot’ held onto No. 2.
Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of Oct. 11-13, 2024.
The terrifying clown at the center of Terrifier 3 was not the scariest thing at the box office this weekend. The scariest thing at the box office this weekend was the historic 81 percent drop by Joker: Folie à Deux from last weekend. As the Joker sequel plummeted from first to third, Terrifier 3 was able to claim a pre-Halloween box office crown with $18.3 million.
Terrifier 3 easily shattered every box office record for the Terrifier franchise thanks to the film receiving a real theatrical release (2,514 screens this weekend) while the first two films got very limited releases.
Terrifier 2 wrapped up in domestic run with just under $11 million — a number easily passed by its sequel in its opening weekend.
