‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ completes its final mission
Should fans be satisfied with ‘The Bad Batch’ finale? PLUS: Jeff Bridges returns to ‘Tron,’ Dua Lipa prepares to host ‘SNL,’ and ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ might not be dead. Yet.
Hello! Welcome to the latest Friday edition of Popculturology. I was going to kick off this week’s newsletter with my thoughts on Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s The Fall Guy, but I’m still testing positive for Covid and didn’t want to spend an entire night wearing a mask in a movie theater.

The Bad Batch wrapped up its three-season run this week. While the show had its standout moments (and it took Lucasfilm animation to another level), I don’t think it ever quite captured the same place in Star Wars mythology that The Clones War did.
In fact, parts of the episode felt more like a finale to The Clone Wars than to The Bad Batch.
I haven’t written about The Bad Batch much in Popculturology. This last season of the show was never appointment viewing for me. (I watched Ahsoka at whatever weird hour the series premiered new episodes on the East Coast.) I love Star Wars animation, but the story never really seemed to progress in The Bad Batch. Omega got captured. Omega got saved. Omega got captured. Omega got saved.
